Dr. Shrikant P. Pawar

General Manager (R&d) Serology & Microbiome

Dr. Pawar heads the Serology and Microbiome (R&D) at Mylab. He has played a major role in developing India’s first Self-Test kit, ‘CoviSelf’ which was launched earlier in the year 2021. He has wide experience in managing and executing mega projects including high throughput bacterial culturomics from the human gut and other environmental niches, and their screening for various industrially important enzymes and also in cultivation, characterization, and preservation of microbes from marine sponges. He has been involved in various microbial genomics projects and carried out studies to elucidate their functional role in various environmental niches. He also has a deep interest in screening for bacterial isolates for significant probiotic properties both on the phenotypic and genotypic levels.

Prior to Mylab, he worked as a Scientist at NCMR, NCCS, Pune. He also holds the position of Joint Secretary, Association of Microbiologist of India (Pune Unit). Dr. Pawar received his Ph. D. in Microbiology from North Maharashtra University, Maharashtra, and M. Sc. In Microbiology from Modern College, University of Pune Maharashtra. He has also contributed to many research papers and was invited to talk at many events related to Serology, microbiology and microbiome.
